Moonlight Peaks Beginner Must-Do Guide — Complete First Week (Days 1–7)

  • New player must-do
  • Latest complete
  • Days 1–7 + nights 11–14
  • Launch week 2026

Latest complete launch-week checklist — essential must-dos only. Story-first retail pacing, day-by-day actions, deep links when you need mechanics.

Quick Answer

Week one is story-first retail — not demo pacing. Name your character, farm, and Hellkitten before leaving the creator; night 1 get all six tools at once (Wiki-confirmed), buy seeds from the woods shack, and start Orlok's wine quest (Wiki-confirmed: blood-grape seeds → keg → red wine → deliver to Viktor). Days 2–3 repair your wand, build processor/furnace/keg, unlock auto-watering spell + Hellkitten form for travel. Days 4–7 explore town for cutscenes (no waypoint, no mini-map), use the NPC map, start Vampsters/Soul blob hunts, sell to Chester, save for upgrades. Hearts may not show yet — normal. Five rules for week one

  • Retail leans story-driven — quests break up the farm loop. Farming should feed missions or upgrades, not fill every hour aimlessly.
  • Wiki-confirmed: there is no navigation arrow or quest marker to the next story step. Walk the town and trigger cutscenes by entering new areas. The camera is fixed-angle (no 3D nausea) but there is no mini-map — open the menu to see NPC locations.
  • Reported (V1): rooster audio around 5:00 a.m. is your cue to head home; missing the coffin by 6:00 a.m. forces a faint and ends the night. V5 also reports louder countdown audio around 5:30 — treat both as reported session timing, not a guaranteed clock for every save.
  • Daily chat + gifts may not show heart icons in week one. Character depth comes from cutscenes and story quests first.
  • Tips come from one ~6-hour pre-release YouTube session (reported) cross-checked against the Moonlight Peaks Wiki first-week walkthrough. Items marked 'Wiki-confirmed' appear on the wiki page; items marked 'reported' come from the preview session only. Cross-check on /help#report after you play.

Before you leave the character creator

Goal: Lock names once — you can change looks later, not necessarily every label.

  1. Decide names for your character, your farm, and your Hellkitten pet before you confirm.
  2. Use a controller on PC if you have one — tool wheel and menus are built for it.Demo controls notes

Skip for now: Don't restart the creator three times hunting the perfect outfit — appearance can be changed later with a potion (name is the sticky field).

Night 1 — arrival & first quest

Goal: Get tools, one crop lane, and your first story task done.

  1. Follow the opening: train to Moonlight Peaks → reclaim the run-down family home → meet wary locals.
  2. Wiki-confirmed first quest: Orlok (a tipsy vampire) gives you blood-grape seeds and asks you to craft red wine — the quest points you to Viktor. This silently teaches the plant → keg → ferment → deliver loop.Farming guide
  3. Wiki-confirmed: you receive all six tools at once — shovel, watering can, fishing rod, bug net, axe, and pickaxe. They live on the tool wheel and do not consume inventory space.Tools guide
  4. Buy seeds from the shack in the woods (Wiki: open 24 hours) — don't wait for a perfect farm layout.Crop lanes
  5. Wiki-confirmed: you start with a broken wand — follow the main story to repair it and unlock spellcasting via rune-drawing in the quick menu.Spells guide
  6. Finish the night loop before sunrise — see /beginner-guide for the demo-tested first-night order.First night guide

Skip for now: Don't clear the entire homestead or max out plots on night one.

Every night — coffin deadline & morning recap

Goal: End nights on your terms before 6:00 and read what unlocked overnight.

  1. Reported (V1): around 5:00 a.m. a rooster cue means wrap up and run for the coffin; at 6:00 a.m. you faint if you are still outside. Plan the last chore with that window — not an exact minute-for-minute timer on every platform.Stamina & night loop
  2. Reported (V1): running out of stamina on the surface only warns you — it does not instantly end the night. Reported (V9 · B-006): passing out while mining may send you home instead.Mining guide
  3. Reported (V9 · B-007): each morning you may see a summary screen of overnight income and new unlocks — scan it before sprinting back into town.Money guide

Skip for now: Don't ignore the coffin timer for one more dig — a forced 6:00 faint wastes the night's tail end.

Days 2–3 — processing & vampire perks

Goal: Unlock magic watering, Hellkitten form, and your first processing buildings.

  1. Prioritize processor, furnace, and keg early — reported missions needed all three within the first ~6 hours.Crafting guide
  2. Wiki-confirmed priority: unlock the auto-watering spell first — it is the first spell you learn and dramatically reduces nightly watering labor. Manual watering is imprecise in early builds.Spells guide
  3. Wiki-confirmed: Hellkitten is your three-eyed cat companion and your first shapeshift form — faster travel around the large map and less energy spent tilling. Week-one time is mostly spent running between NPCs, so speed matters.Shapeshift guide
  4. Short on energy and cash? Craft grape juice from early crops instead of buying food every night.Stamina guide
  5. Wiki-confirmed: sell goods to Chester (a talkative mailbox creature who comments on every sale). Save gold for seeds, tool upgrades, and a coop — money gates buildings and upgrades before comfort purchases.Money guide

Skip for now: Don't buy every decorative blueprint before processor + keg are online.

Days 4–7 — explore, map, long collections

Goal: Push story by exploring, start long-term collectibles, prep for festivals.

  1. When stuck on main story, walk beaches, marshes, and resident areas — the next cutscene often triggers by exploration, not a quest log ping.Map guide
  2. Open the full map to see every NPC's live location — there is no mini-map; the menu may default to the quest tab first, so switch to map manually.Map tips
  3. Rotate fishing, bug catching, and mines between story nights — all three show up in early reported play.Fishing guide
  4. Start the 100 Vampsters hunt (Wiki: chicken-like shy critters, return to a cave). Wiki-confirmed: you can only pick them up in vampire form — they escape if dropped outside the cave. Only a handful appear in 6 hours; treat as a week-long background goal.Collectibles
  5. Soul blobs need the bug net — reported unlock on night 11 via Death (see Nights 11–14 below). Until then, note dig spots and beaches where blobs appear in preview footage.Soul blobs guide
  6. If Love Edge festival appears on your calendar: cook one buffet dish and bring a secret-admirer gift; shop exclusive furniture while there.Festivals

Skip for now: Don't assume 100/100 collectibles are a week-one task — five Vampsters in six hours was normal in preview.

Nights 11–14 — Death, soul blobs & Alberta

Goal: Unlock the bug net, run Death's vacation loop, and open timed town requests.

  1. Reported (V1): on night 11, Death unlocks your bug net — bug catching and soul-blob hunts start here, not on night one. Death also appears as a reported romance route in sponsored footage.Death profile
  2. Wiki-confirmed: catch 15 soul blobs to unlock a time-slow watch that effectively lengthens each game day. Reported (V1 · V7): after more progress, Death may visit and offer +15 or +25 extra minutes per night. Names and exact counts may differ in retail.Soul blobs guide
  3. Reported (V1 · V5): on night 14, Alberta the Owl opens a quest board with timed requests — check it when the main story goes quiet instead of idle farming.Quests guide

Skip for now: Don't take Alberta board jobs before processor + keg are online — timed requests still want crafted goods.

Normal to not have yet (week one)

  • Bug net & soul-blob milestones before night 11 — Death hands you the net on reported night 11; earlier nights are prep only. Collectibles
  • Alberta the Owl quest board before night 14 — reported unlock on night 14; use main-story fetch quests until then. Quests guide
  • Romance heart icons — gifting daily may still show zero hearts in week one; see /romance-guide for the V8 roster of 23 romanceable characters. Romance guide
  • Most spell-shop inventory and livestock — preview ran out of money before animals; unlock through story + savings. Livestock guide
  • Mine door / deeper combat — mines were reachable but a locked door and no combat in the first ~6 hours. Mining guide
  • Full decorating pass — top-down decorate is a late-game time sink; craft decor after core processing pays for itself. Building guide

Story context (optional read)

  • Town tension sits between family groups (reported: vampires, werewolves, witches, seers). Your quests mostly help villagers and unite factions — see /families-guide for confirmed roster framing.
  • Developers cited ~50–60 hours of story in sponsored preview materials — reported dev quote, not a site-verified hour count.
  • Preview footage was PC; Switch and Switch 2 launch alongside Steam on July 7, 2026 — Switch performance not shown in this source.

Faction names and romance scale may differ as you progress — V8 official roster graphic (T2 reported) names 23 romanceable characters across seven families; Steam markets "about two dozen" (T1). See /romance-guide.

Week-one checkpoints

  1. 1Name character, farm, Hellkitten#before-you-start
  2. 2Finish night 1 + first quest#night-one-arrival
  3. 3Build processor / furnace / keg#days-two-three
  4. 4Explore for next cutscene#days-four-seven

If you only do five things

  1. Step 1Use the tool wheel from night one

Tools do not consume bag slots — reported retail hands you the full basic set immediately.

  2. Step 2Unlock Hellkitten before wide farming

Transformation saves travel time across the large town map and lowers tilling energy cost in preview.

  3. Step 3Process before you decorate

Processor, furnace, and keg gate early missions — prioritize them over cosmetic crafting.

  4. Step 4Explore when the quest log goes quiet

Main story advances by finding cutscenes in town — not always by following a marker.

  5. Step 5Bank gold for upgrades

Seeds, coop, house upgrades, and tool tiers all compete for the same early wallet.

Moonlight Peaks Beginner Must-Do Guide — Complete First Week (Days 1–7) FAQ

I don't know what to do next in the main story.

Wiki-confirmed: there is no navigation arrow or quest marker. Walk the town — beaches, marshes, homes — until a cutscene triggers. There is no mini-map; open the full menu map to see every NPC's live location (it defaults to the quest tab, so switch manually). Map guide

What should I build in the first few days?

Wiki-confirmed early chain: processor, furnace, and keg (the keg is needed for Orlok's wine quest — plant blood-grape seeds, ferment red wine, deliver to Viktor). Then save for seeds, tool upgrades, and a coop. See the Days 2–3 section on this page. Crafting guide

Why don't villagers show heart icons?

One preview player gifted daily for six hours with zero hearts visible — relationship UI may unlock later via story. V8 roster names 23 romanceable on /romance-guide; don't treat week-one silence as a bug yet. Romance guide

How is this different from the beginner guide?

/beginner-guide covers the first night coffin loop (demo-tested). This page covers retail week one — story exploration, processing, and long collectibles after launch. Beginner guide

Where do Soul blobs and Vampsters matter?

Wiki-confirmed: 100 Vampsters (chicken-like critters, return to a cave — only pickable in vampire form) and Soul blobs — catch 15 blobs to unlock a time-slow watch that lengthens each day. Treat as background goals, not week-one completion tasks. Bug net unlocks on reported night 11 via Death. Collectibles
